Learning Some Epic Dad Hacks and Making New Friends | LG Kitchen

As a working dad, I sometimes miss the opportunity to sit down with the family to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. Most times Corrie will take on the daily task to make sure the kids have a healthy (and sometimes not so healthy) meal. I by no means am a great cook, but I do enjoy the opportunity to jump on creating a nice meal for the family when we are all together, whether I am off on the weekend or starting work later in the afternoon. It helps break things up giving mom a break and allows me to brush up my mediocre cooking skills (did I mention I am a self-proclaimed grill master!?).

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the LG Kitchen in the Chatelaine offices, where I spent the afternoon with celebrity Chef Chuck Hughes and Rick Campanelli. They were gracious hosts to introduce us to some pretty amazing LG Kitchen Appliances and overall the day was a blast. Meeting Rick had me a little star struck and it was so cool to have a casual conversation about family and life with someone I had been watching on TV since I was a kid. Meeting Chuck was so great, super funny guy and it had Corrie super jealous! As you know, Corrie is a huge foodie and has been a huge fan of Chuck for a very long time. Since Corrie was unable to attend the event I of course had to get them to give her a video shout out

Our focus during the LG Kitchen event was to learn about two incredible LG Kitchen appliances; The LG QuadWash™ Dishwasher and the LG InstaView™ Door-In-Door® Refrigerator. It was also an added benefit to be spending the day in what I would have thought would have been everyone’s dream kitchen, including myself. It was absolutely stunning!

The LG QuadWash™ Dishwasher had some incredible features and as a parent of 4 kids including triplets who has never owned a dishwasher, seeing this appliance up close and learning about its features had me blown away. It features TrueSteam® technology that requires no pre-washing or rinsing, you just pop it in and turn it on. Another showcase feature was the EasyRack™ Plus system which gives you the ability to hold virtually any type of dishes. Owning this would be a no brainer adding complete value to your life!

Chuck and Rick .. the dream team!

The LG InstaView™ Door-In-Door® Refrigerator was my favourite appliance to see in action. It was a massive refrigerator that had a door within a door. This provides you with the ability to have quick access to your most commonly used food items and what blew me away was the 2-time knock that would light up the door to show you your food items without opening the fridge. This maintains freshness, and as someone who is always looking for items or constantly reorganizing items in the refrigerator this was pure magic to me! Chuck made a great point that we would never want to open an oven while we are cooking our food, especially in a restaurant, similar to a refrigerator. With the Cold Saver technology incorporated in the LG InstaView™ Door-In-Door® Refrigerator you can reduce up to 47% of cold air-loss. There are so many amazing features this refrigerator has to offer and we are just knocking on its surface (pun intended).

A hard thing when it comes to food for me is that I am a person who sticks to their comfort zone. I often get scared to try new foods or different meals and I have been making the effort to step outside of my comfort zone lately. When I learned that Chuck was going to be creating food for us, I right of the bat was worried I was not going to like food. I was also worried I was going to offend him if maybe, I didn’t like it. I mean let’s be real here, he is a celebrity chef and it was a tad intimidating. I could not have been more wrong! The food was absolutely delicious! If the other people attending weren’t there or didn’t eat, I would have ate it all. My favourite was Strawberry Fluff! I got so excited learning from Chuck, I went home and made some of the food myself. Rick and Chuck are also parents as well. Some of their greatest advice during the LG Kitchen event, when it came to cooking food and to help your children learn is to include them in the process. It will also get them excited about eating the food that they were able to help make!

LG did a phenomenal job hosting this event, and I cannot express how awesome it was to be a part of it! I took away so much and had a blast hanging with Rick and Chuck. It’s not every day you have a celebrity chef cook for you or you get to hang out with someone who was a big part of your childhood. Definitely one for the books!
