How We Finally Eliminated That Awful Smell #ForBetterBeginnings

One of the many things I do, first thing in the morning and right before everyone goes to bed, is changing diapers. As a mom of 4 kids, who are all in diapers and training underwear, I sometimes feel as though half my day is spent changing diapers. I knew what I was in for and have prepared myself for a few more years, but until then I need somewhere to dispose of the diapers. The Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite is a diaper pail, designed to give you a convenient and easy way to dispose of your babies used diapers. The double air-tight clamps and the carbon filter lock in the odours from those dirty diapers, helping to eliminate the smell in your house and we all know how far that smell can travel! The 7 layer refill also locks in odour and locks in germs with its barrier technology. 

When I first opened the box, I was surprised to see there were only 3 parts to assemble; the lid, the base and the front panel. There was also an owner’s manual booklet, with easy to follow instructions for assembly, how to start and refill, use of the diaper genie and how to empty. I set it up fairly quickly, although it was a little tricky with 4 sets of little hands wanting to grab and see everything! I wish I had taken a picture to show the 3 parts to assemble too, but I was so eager to start using the Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite , it totally slipped my mind.

 

Once I had it all set up, I installed the refill and again the instructions were very easy to follow. I was now ready to use our new Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite and it was perfect timing because it was time for another bum change for everyone!

We have been using the Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite for the past month and it has truly been amazing! It really does lock in the smell and I don’t have to worry about the smell of dirty diapers lingering around if we have visitors. The smell from diapers is one thing I always worry about and the first thing I ask or say to someone if they come over is “Can you smell that?” and “Sorry about the poop smell.” Now I know they cannot smell anything and I can also walk into the kitchen and passed the garbage without smelling those stinky diapers.

Emily has also been enjoying the Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite and with the easy to use foot pedal, she can collect all the diapers and dispose of them herself. From the time the triplets were born, Emily has always been my little helper, picking up the diapers and throwing them in the garbage or at least over the gate from the living room. Now she can still help me and I think it is so cute how excited she gets when it’s time to dispose of the diapers. From the moment we set it up, Emily, Jackson, Olivia and Levi were just so fascinated with the foot pedal and popping open the lid. I think they all stood around taking turns opening it, while laughing, for a good 10 minutes.

When it was time to empty the pail, all you have to do is cut the top of the bag with the little cutter inside the pail. At first, I found it a little tricky, but after emptying it a couple of times, I can get the bag cut in one go. After you removed the filled part of the bag, you have to pull down the refill and tie a knot at the end. That is one thing you want to make sure you don’t forget or you won’t have much fun when you are ready to empty the pail and find all the diapers, not in the bag! I also found it was best to pull out a little extra out of the refill, which will make your life a lot easier when trying to tie the knot at the bottom of the bag.

Lastly, I should mention the style and design of the Diaper Genie. It is a very sleek design and can easily be placed anywhere in your home. I love that you can now choose from a few different designs and colors to meet the decor in your home and the pail can also be placed flush against the wall, which makes it very handy when setting it out.

Overall, I think the Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite is a great product and it does what it was designed to do. It has been a huge help for myself and for my family and we have really noticed how well the odour locking system works. The Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite is perfect for any family and I would say a must item for new, expecting and experienced parents!
